What happens next?

Because the story of Jesus is so impressive – God among us!  God speaking a language we can understand!  God acting in ways that heal and help and save us! – there is a danger that we will be impressed, but only be impressed.  As the spectacular dimensions of this story slowly (or suddenly) dawn [...]

Who is Jesus and what does it have to do with me?

Who is Jesus and what might it have to do with us and our lives? The next few weeks we will be looking at the writings of Mark about Jesus. It was written within a generation of Jesus' life and Mark seems to be writing to Romans who have similarities to some Americans.

Welcome to Sojourn Newburgh

What if God does not care if you go to church? What if church is more than just a few songs and a sermon? What if church is something that happens when a community of people are asking "what is the Kingdom of God really?" What if church is a community of belonging where everyone is welcome at the table? What if church is being honest with each other and with God about our struggles and then searching together for Truth? Where will He lead us? What type of people will He compel us to find a home for and with? What if it is not about us but them? What if WE are THEM? You know people who need help too?

5th Sunday was great! width=

5th Sunday was great!

On the fifth Sunday of this month, you won't find us in a building . This is a step for us to help keep our perspective off ourselves and on our community. We meet at our regular time (10:30) at the church and then break off into groups that head off around the city of Evansville to help make a difference. We only have a couple of rules about this experiment: 1. You can't sleep in and count it as a day off. (sorry) 2. You can't give your offering to the church. (find someone to bless)

Our children are active! width=

Our children are active!

Unfortunately, we don’t have a real good “techie” among all the children’s leaders that can update all that our children are doing.  We need to collect pictures and get those posted.  They have been bowling and had events and the Sunday school teachers have been awesome in their teaching, prayer, and care for our children!  They are [...]

Thursday nights are now Thursday and Friday nights!

We are a unique blend of people who journey, love, serve and learn together to become more like Jesus. We have a Thursday night group at 6:30 and Friday nights at 7:30. We share some food stuff-of-life conversation when we come together. Each group establishes its own “rhythm” for their experience together. Contact Matt (matt@thesojourn.org) or Kevin (kevin.schuble@gmail.com) or Clint (mmajors5680@yahoo.com).
