SOJOURN suggests a destination of deliverance and redemption.
We embrace renewed life as we journey together in the grace of Jesus.

Our Vision

Things always seem to be changing in our world.  Yet, there are some things that neverSunInTheTrees change.  Scripture speaks to the reality of our creation, our purpose, and God’s plan in redeeming us to those good purposes we have forgotten or missed or even messed up.

WeHadNoWe started in 2007 on a mission to be a body of Christ.  That has been exciting and challenging.  We are continually seeking to move further up and further into our relationship with God and see His restoration in our lives now, as well as prepare us for His future purposes.

Our vision is simple and developing.  We believe the body of Christ is taught, equipped, and led by Jesus through the truth of His word and the gift of His Spirit.  Teaching of the truth of His word and invitation to a relationship with Jesus is best done through bringing the Word of God in ways that are currently relevant to those God is calling to himself.

It’s been a miracle to watch God grow us individually and that handful of people who found Jesus and His church by meeting in living rooms.  This core leadership longs to be in a closer walk with Jesus and see changed lives.  Jesus’ plan for that was through His body - the church.

Vision

We pray and hope for a place where you cannot only check out Christianity and seek answers to spiritual questions, but you can encounter God through worship experiences that meet you where you are.

We pray and hope for a place where you are actually surprised by the authenticity of the people there.

We pray and hope for a place designed to join you in your search for answers while inviting you to ask new questions.

We pray and hope for a group of people searching for God; not claiming to have it figured out but wanting to know what He is really like.

We pray and hope for a place desperate to see God work in our world today.

We pray and hope for a place that is not just something that people do on Sundays, but is a living community woven into the fabric of their everyday lives.

We pray and hope for a place that is not only passionate about serving people inside the community, but has a deep conviction to help each person identify his or her gift, develop it, and use it to grow the kingdom of God here and now by reaching out to our community one person at a time.

We hope and pray to be a real community in the unreal world; a community of people who are honest with God, honest with each other, and loving our neighbor.  We hope and pray to be a coming together of kingdom family members and seekers for a celebration of our growth together on our journey and a commitment together to a mission that has real and lasting impact for good on our world.

We believe that even though we might not see Him, God is indeed, at work convicting with His Spirit and drawing people to Jesus, in order to build His kingdom family here on earth.

Join us for teaching, koinonea/fellowship, prayer, and breaking of bread together that leads to worship and a hope that we may see hearts of stone become hearts of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26).

Once committed to following Jesus, that which has started in the soul of a person, absolutely will continue; you will never be the same.

5th Sunday was great! width=

5th Sunday was great!

On the fifth Sunday of this month, you won't find us in a building . This is a step for us to help keep our perspective off ourselves and on our community. We meet at our regular time (10:30) at the church and then break off into groups that head off around the city of Evansville to help make a difference. We only have a couple of rules about this experiment: 1. You can't sleep in and count it as a day off. (sorry) 2. You can't give your offering to the church. (find someone to bless)

Our children are active!

Unfortunately, we don’t have a real good “techie” among all the children’s leaders that can update all that our children are doing.  We need to collect pictures and get those posted.  They have been bowling and had events and the Sunday school teachers have been awesome in their teaching, prayer, and care for our children!  They are [...]

Thursday nights are now Thursday and Friday nights!

We are a unique blend of people who journey, love, serve and learn together to become more like Jesus. We have a Thursday night group at 6:30 and Friday nights at 7:30. We share some food stuff-of-life conversation when we come together. Each group establishes its own “rhythm” for their experience together. Contact Matt (matt@thesojourn.org) or Kevin (kevin.schuble@gmail.com) or Clint (mmajors5680@yahoo.com).
